In Memory of Professor Manfred T. Reetz

Professor Manfred T. Reetz of the Max Planck Institute (Germany), who was awarded the Ryoji Noyori Prize sponsored by Takasago International Corporation for the award year 2025, passed away on April 23, 2026.

The Ryoji Noyori Prize is an international award established in 2002 by the Society of Synthetic Organic Chemistry, Japan (SSOCJ), in commemoration of the 2001 Nobel Prize in Chemistry awarded to Professor Ryoji Noyori, one of the External Board Members of Takasago International Corporation, and the 60th anniversary of SSOCJ. Professor Reetz was selected as the recipient of the 2025 Prize in recognition of his outstanding achievements in the fields of protein engineering and biocatalysis.
